       You americans can not look past your fat arses and only know either b/ball, super bowl or f..... Nascar and then think that's all the world watches!! do yourselves a BIG favour and travel the world and actually live in a a country apart from USA, then you'll be able to have a better perspective on the "REAL" world. Not everything revolves around USA!! Might be hard to accept, but its the reality!! BTW Jordan was a great b/baller, but not the greatest athlete. There's a huge difference between the 2 definitions.

       Greatest bball player ever no doubt but was he honestly twice as good as his closest competitor? I think we all know he wasn't. For that reason the no.1 spot should go to Don Bradman. He was not only the unanimously agreed greatest of all time in his sport but twice as good as his nearest rival. Imagine if a sprinter came along and ran the 100m in 5 seconds flat. Or if a running back doubled Emmit Smiths rushing record. It sounds not only rediculous but impossible. Yet that is how good Bradman actually was.

       @dylan Though you are right. wilt russel and whoever else did do those things. but what makes michael stand out is that he wrecked in EVERY category and not just one. like those others did.

       I can't believe there are people in this world who would actually argue against Michael Jordan being the greatest of all time in any sport. Many people talk smack but if their lives depended of a one last second-clutch performance, we all know who they would pick. None other than Mr. 6 times NBA finals MVP.

       I will never be able to understand why everyone thinks michael jordan is the greatest athlete ever. anything he has ever done basketball wise has already been done, he won 6 nba titles, that's not even half of the number that russel won. wilt chamberlain dwarfs all of his scoring records. the only thing michael jordan did was market the nba, and for that reason everyone thinks he is a god.

       I know that Jordan is currently rated #1 on this list but I still think he should be higher.  Michael Jordon dominated the NBA for his entire career (not counting his time with the Wizards) more than any athlete has ever dominated a sport.  He is also a superb golfer, baseball player, and probably more.  For sure the greatest athlete in history.
