       Franz Kafka was born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, which not a whole lot of famous authors were.  His best known books (novellas, really) are Metamorphosis and The Trial.  The Metamorphosis concerns itself with poor Gregor who one day wakes up in the family home transformed into a giant insect.  The story is about how Gregor and the family deals with this situation which is certainly interesting.  At first, they are frightened, then they understand and take care of him.  He feels strong with their care.  The family grows tired of the caretaking, Gregor feels weak and kills himself for the sake of the family.  The family is relieved.
