       Henry Miller is legendary for his so-called salacious novels and his idyllic dwelling place in Big Sur, California.  The movie Henry and June didn't hurt his "salacious" reputation either.  Tropic of Cancer was a romp through Paris in the 50's and 60's.  A romp where Henry Miller spared none of the sexy details or language some would consider crude.  I consider it a masterpiece of creative writing.  The author delved deeply into his soul to create the characters and situations in this novel that were truly original to him.  There had never been a novel remotely like Tropic of Cancer.  He plowed new territory with this one.
