Swallows and Amazons

Swallows and Amazons by Arthur Ransome

This a
wondeful adventure story about four children and their boat the Swallow who camp on an island in the middle of a
lake in England. They meet two girls who sail the Amazon and so the adventure begins. There is an Australian
connection because the mother of the children in Swallow comes from Sydney where she sailed yachts on the Harbour.
Beautifuly written by Arthur Ransome in 1930 it became an instant best seller and has been in print ever since.
Agreat book for children and all those young at heart.
