       The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a colorful and educational book.  The Very Hungry Caterpillar teaches children numerous things such as: the days of the week, the life cycle of a butterfly, and what happens if you eat too much juck food!  Eric Carle's collage pictures are playful and bright, which helps to keep children drawn in.  In addition, the book has a unique page layout with each page growing in size as the book goes along.  This book is great for preschoolers and kindergarten students.  You can also tell this great story with finger puppets, magnetic pieces, and stuffed animals.  The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a terrific story and it should be on your child's bookshelf.
