100 Greatest Historical Figures

Well, Adolph Hitler is certainly an historical figure.  One we all wished hadn't happened, but alas, he did.  Hitler led a great nation to glory and then to ruin with his megalomania that remained transparent to everyone but his closest military associates for many years.  (His closest associates understood his madness earlier than the rest of the military and the German people and tried to end his life, to no avail.)  He seemed to hyptonize the German people and many members of other countries in a way that is difficult to fathom.  Anyone seeing his films today would recognize his narcissism,  his megalomania and all his other personality disorders.  Maybe hindsight is 20-20 but today it's difficult for any thinking person, German or otherwise to understand his hold on the world at the time.  I guess you would have to blame it on extreme nationalism.  If that is the case, be very afraid of that sentiment happening anywhere in the world today.
