Buddha

Budha began
life in 624 BC in northern India. The following is an oversimplification of his philosophy but it is core to
it. The basic tenet of Buddhism is that all living things are born with a quest for peace and happiness
and to find a way to avoid suffering. This is mainly done by looking outside of the self into the world
before us to find solutions to the inevitable sadness and sufferings that befall us and the ones we know and
love. Buddha's teachings are to look, instead, within oneself to find the solutions. Not unlike the
existentialists, Buddha seems to have seen that reality is within each of us and so we can only improve our reality
by changing the way we see and think about it. Buddha is teaching that a life worth living is serene,
thoughtful and goes with the flow rather than against it.
