Henry VIII

Henry VIII
was the only King of England to have done away in one fashion or another most of his six wives. He is also
the only English monarch to have a hit song in his honor. Henry VIII is the second of the Tudor kings and
should be remembered for sucessfully separating the Church of England from the Roman Catholic church, rather than
his multiple marriages and how he dealt with his wives. Another act in his favor is to oversee the legal
union of England and Wales. Henry VIII believed in ruling with absolute power as well as the throne of
England must be inheritied by a male heir. Thus his penchant for serial marriages. He felt that no female
would be capable of holding the The Tudor dynasty together following the fragile peace in the aftermath of
the War of the Roses. Henry VIII grew very obese at the end of his life giving fodder to the rumors of the time of
his unearthly lusting, gluttony and quest for power. Whether all that is true or not remains up in the
air. What is known to be true is that Henry was an accomplished composer, musician, author and poet, not to
mention an avid and accomplished gambler.
