Nelson Mandela

Nelson
Mandela showed the world what apartheid was like in South Africa and worked very hard to end it. He did so
not by arming rebel soldiers but my talking about it and publicizing it's wrongs to the rest of the world.
The rest of the world took notice even as Mandela was locked up in prison for 27 years for his opposition to
apartheid and forming an anti-apartheid political party, the ANC. The man truly talked the talk and walked
the walk. He was elected president of South Africa in 1994 and served until 1999. His mode of conflict
management was mostly as a conciliator, certainly true to his nature. Nelson Mandela is an extraordinary
historical figure as well as an extraordinary human being.
