Medicine

Interestingly, you don't often see medicine in a list of great inventions of the world. It certainly belongs
way up there among the top. Medicine is not just great for today's measles, chicken pox, clogged arteries and
heart disease, think what would have happened if the AIDS epidemic happened in the 14th century as did the bubonic
plague which killed 75 million people before it ran its course, totally unmedicated. AIDS would have had the
opportunity to do at least as much damage then and now if it weren't for the dedicated scientists and their
research to find a way to at least control the epidemic, if not end it. Enitre populations of indigenous
South Americans were wiped out by measles in the 15th and 16th centuries. That would not have happened
in the 20th century, and the history of the world would have been altered.
