The Printing Press

       The printing press has to be right up there among the top five inventions of all time.  Sure, the computer, the internet and television are great communicators, but they are not mandatory for human communication.  After all we got by for centuries reading the written word for communication way before the invention of the other items mentioned.  Along with that reasoning, the press allowed us to read about past history as it was discovered, written down and published for all to know and learn.  The printing press is undoubtedly the biggest boon to education and literacy that ever was.
