Ingmar Bergman

Ingmar
Bergman brings the dour Scandinavian soul to his films. All of them are on the serious, philosophical, even
bleak side whether dealing with religion as in "The Seventh Seal" or the loss of virginity in "The Virgin
Spring. .Ingmar Bergman digs deep into the universal human condition. He covers such topics as revenge,
fight or flight, faith, love, hate and how the generations see each other. Ingmar Bergman was not just a film
director ,he was also a writer and producer of films as well as for the stage and television. His films
received much critical acclaim, but never got into heavy grosses at the box office. Possibly, a little too
deep for the average movie goer looking for entertainment. Nonetheless, he will always rank at the top of the
best directors' list of all time.
