Stanley Kubrick

Stanley
Kubrick displayed his vivid imagination in 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange. Having read
the novel A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess, I felt anyone had to be nuts to even consider setting the novel to
film. Leave it to Kubrick to take on the direction of the film, but make it entertaining and as true to the
book as he possible. That takes incrediblye artistry. Equally imaginative was his 2001 an achievement
which no other director could have matched. That film is signature Stanley Kubrick direction that became an
instant classic. Kubrick is also very capable of directing harsh reality as he did in Full Metal Jacket, an
unvarnished look at the Vietnam war. Two films that I wish he hadn't made were Eyes Wide Shut - like, who
cares? and Barry Lyndon reminiscent of a TV air freshener ad. To his credit, his successes far outweigh
his bombs.
