       If you take away the 3D, the special effects, and the big name director, Avatar is nothing more than a a very weak story with little to no character development.  That being said, we cannot take these things away as they are part of the Avatar experience.  Kind of a dog and pony show that was cool to watch in IMAX once.

       Lets's face it, Avatar had a dumb plot.  What made it so special was the look of the movie and the way the "actors" moved.  James Cameron created an original masterpiece unlike anything ever before it.   A movie with a dumb plot should not have had the rich appeal it had to the audiences as well as the critics.  I have never seen another case of a movie with a mediocre plot andactors that were not human so you couldn't identify them make such a splash to the appreciative audiences fortunate enough to have seen this beautiful, imaginative production.  I hope there is no sequel planned so I can keep Avatar for ever in my memory as the way it is now.
