Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid directed by George Roy Hill(1969)

Butch
Cassidy and the Sundance Kid is based loosely on fact. Whether fact or fiction this almost epic Western
paired Robert Redford as Sundance with Paul Newman, Butch Cassidy. No actors could ever replace them if
anyone dared to produce a remake. The movie also starred Katherine Ross as Butch's love interest. The
outstanding direction was by George Roy Hill. The movie is essentially a buddy western about two outlaws of
the wild west who go around robbing and running. They eventually hop a ship in New York headed for
Bolivia. They are at home here robbing trains and mules laden with payroll money. Unfortunately,
they irk the wrong people and end up being riddled by Bolivian bullets. The dialog is superb as is the
writing and cinematography. The music was no slouch either having won an academy award that year for best
song Raindrops Keep Falling on My Head.
