       Once again, Abba proves that Swedes can be among the most creative artists in the world.  There have been many parodies of the band because of their iconic stage presence, but they only serve to widely advertise the power of their music.  Abba is not interesting, however for their music alone.  The band in the beginning consisted of two married couples who wrote and performed music that became extremely popular hits and propelled them to the top of the charts as well as rock tours.  Both marriages were strained and fell apart, but the group still wrote and performed together.  At that point, their songs had become far more introspective, serious and deep, not the playful songs of their beginnings, but certainly up to their high standards, just different.  The group began their steady rise in 1972 and lasted for around 20 years as one of the most popular groups on the planet. They also wrote songs for some fascinating , esoteric films The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and Muriel's Wedding,  both of which propelled their music to the ears of a brand new audience.  In 1998, a musical which subsequently became a movie based on the band called Mamma Mia was produced to great acclaim and served to bring their  music to even wider audiences.  They are most deservedly inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
