       Rollicking, emotional, powerful are only some of the words to describe Freddie Mercury and his music.  We are the Champions and Bohemian Rhapsody are classics that have gained play in many different venues from football stadiums to movies to television advertisements. Freddies' band Queen started out without him and was then called Smile.  Freddie was a big fan and when one member dropped out, Freddie gladly stepped in.  He renamed the band Queen and changed his surname from Bulsara to Mercury from lyrics in the song My Fairy Queen.  Freddie Mercury and Queen never stopped filling up the largest stadiums with their millions of fans around the globe.  Freddie Mercury died of AIDS in 1991. Some members of Queen hung together and played along with other bands and in various recording sessions until 2009, with speculation that they will return in some form in the future.
