       Janis Joplin reminds me of a Texas Roadhouse belter.  Janis doesn't just sing, she lives the music to the pit of her soul.  Her raspy, twangy, loud style of vocalizing sets her apart from other rockers, male or female.  And make no mistake about it, Janis is a rocker.  She and her audiences were engaged in a love affair as long as the concert lasted.  She was equally good with the band that made her famous, Big Brother and the Holding Company, as she was without them.  She sang like no one else.  Her Me and Bobby McGee is a different song when she sings it.  Like so many genius rockers, Janis left us much too early.
