       Jerry Lee Lewis is one of the eariiest singer/musicians to view his role also as a perfomer of music.  His piano playing performances are legendary.  No one can pound the keys with such zealousness as Jerry.  He was the musician was for a Rock opera of Shakespeare's "Othello" in the early 1970's and no one who saw that production will ever forget his piano playing antics.  It's far from just the antics, Lewis plays the piano with a deft touch.  Jerry Lee Lewis also wrote many of his songs ("Great Balls of Fire" ) as well as for other recording artists.  He brought piano to rockabilly music where he started out.  Jerry Lee is still performing today, although without the pumping piano action of yore.
