       Little Richard paved the way for any performer who was decidedly different than his fellows.  His screaming way of getting a song across, not to mention his flamboyance and sexual orientation set him apart not just from the mainstream of the fifties and sixties, but from the mainstream of any era.  The man is one of a kind.  Little Richard claims to be The architect of Rock and Roll.  When you consider that he began his singing career in the early fifties after turning from rhythm and blues to rock and roll, his claim a lot of merit.  His style came our of 1940's gospel and he knocked the socks off the 50's with his Good Golly Miss Molly, Tutti Frutti, and Long Tall Sally.  He clearly influenced James Brown, Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Jimi Hendrix among many others. Throughout his long career, beginning with being one of the first to be inducted into Rock and Roll's Hall of Fame through the present, Little Richard has won just about every musical award one can win.  He continues to rock on.
