       Miles Davis was the greatest jazz musician of all time.  His profound understanding of the music and his talent in bringing it out through his trumpet, flugelhorn, piano or organ all of which he excelled at, earned him the honor of being inducted  into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006.  I presume that is because that award is the most prestigious one around and no such award exists for jazz musicians alone. The hall includes all contemporary musicians deserving of the ultimate honor in their field.  Miles album "Kind of Blue" earned a platinum certification no less than four times.  "Kind of Blue" is the Miles Davis of cool jazz.  With Gil Evans, they produced such wonderful works as "Sketches of Spain" and "Porgy and Bess." In 2009, the U.S. House of Representatives sponsored a measure to recognize and commemorate "Kind of Blue" on its 50th anniversary.
