       Tom Waits I would have to say is one of my favorite singers. My favorite song by him would have to be "Dead and Lovely". I first heard that song in the movie "Wristcutters" and it absolutely made me love it. Waits is incredible with words and setting a mood, like in D and L, it makes me so depressed even if I'm in the happiest mood, but it's still and awesome song.

       Tom Waits is an artist. An actor. And lastly a musician. This is a way to approach his unusual music. He is a genius with language and mood. Hi is the bard of skid row. His songs tell desperate stories of flawed people and the whimsy of alcohol and insanity. It is theatre, it is poetry, it is art. Beginning with Swordfish Trombones he went his own way and developed a sound and style that is all his own but speaks volumes to all of us.
