       A People's History of the United States is an outstanding book all around.  This is one that I fully agree with on the list and may even put it in the top three among some of the ancient works.

       This is a good one.  It took me a long time to make it all the way through, but this book really makes you think.  History is written by the rich and powerful and those who win wars and the real truth is often burried with the poor.  I'm really happy that I decided to pick this up and I think if you are an American you should pick up a copy as well.
