One on the
most cleverly scripted novels that I have ever read, Genius intertwined with compassion. Hugo not only paid great
heed to events in history but has also mastered the art of understaning the ways of people. both good and
bad.

Ok, so I'm
15, and yes I know that its a very higher level and a lot of kids my age dont even read books, but whatever,
like I was saying I read it on iBooks (definatly better than Kindle!) and it was an extremely hard book to read
burt i got through it eventually after about two or three months and i have to say that it was one of the greats
for me along with Percy Jackson, Harry Potter, and The Horeos of Olympus (Sequel to Percy Jackson series). I read
it because I'm playing Jean Valjean in the musical version at my high school (greatest musical ever
written!)..

Whilst
heavy-going in places, it is an extraordinary book, the best I've ever read. Hugo is a genius, Les Miserables
his masterpiece. I recommend Norman Denny's translation as it is gerally more approachable than other versions.
What makes this book so different is that you connect with every character no matter their role in the novel, large
or small. This book is worh reading purely for its climactic and heart-rendering final part. Truly
inspiring.

The most
brilliantly written book in history. Hugo has clearly mastered mankind and human nature within this novel. Although
a slow read, even for a fast reader as myself, it's definitely worth the time, and you'll be thanking yourself for
the first two weeks of tiresome reading. Once you get past the books of Fantine and Cosette, you won't be able to
bring yourself to put the beastly thing down.

Much can be
said about Les Miserables, but everyone would agree to two facts: it is very good and it is long. Really long, and
it is does require intellectual effort, so it may take quite a while to read properly. It is however worth it. The
book(s) is/are a legendary literary work , with an impecable complex plot alternating with vast descriptions
(Waterloo comes to mind) in an exquisite style.
One of the works that deserve their place in the
list, and that everyone should read.
