Ok so
I have read the other reviews and, I also think this is
not the most wonderful literary masterpiece of all time.
However when I went looking for a list of the best novels
of all time, I was looking for the best books to read. I
was looking for books I would enjoy, not books that my
English lit. Teacher in high school thought were good. Or
novels that had me think so hard about the moral fiber of
our society that, there may as well have not been a story
at all. And with that in mind I will tell you that the Di
Vinci Code is indeed on my top 100 Novel of all time. I
dont even like mystery novels but this was a blast I
could not put it down. 100% wonderful
entertainment. So don't listen to all of those other
snobby reviews, if you want one of the best novels to
READ of all time this should be on your list.

Poorly
written book. I was so disappointed. This kind of shallow
and pointless garbage does not belong in the same list as
Huckleberry Finn and To Kill a Mockingbird.

This
should not be in the top 100. It is essentially a poorly
written adventure story. It was a fun read though
complete and utter brain chewing gum. There is no real
literary merit here. It's scary to think that this has
been put in a list with Gravity's Rainbow, The Old Man
and The Sea and A Clockwork Orange. Ho hum. It comes and
goes.

I read
this book and I enjoyed it but I would never rank it
above books such as Cat's Cradle. It follows Dan Brown's
basic premise of having a smart, attractive, guy with a
less than popular job meet a smart, attractive woman who
he goes on an adventure with. Brown then places many "oh
snap" moments (guns, villians, plot twists, and the Holy
Grail) to keep the reader interested in the story until
they finish it. The story isn't bad but it is far from
amazing. If you did enjoy this book you should be happy
to know that it was far from his best material, Deception
Point, which has more "oh snap" moments with smarter and
sexier protagonists.

I
enjoyed reading the comments posted here about the
book--the actual book? Not so much. It
snatches you up in the beginning--the intriguing
exposition, the fascinating details--but then you realize
that you have been dragged along on an overgrown
scavenger hunt with characters less interesting and
developed than those you meet on the bus for a moment's
time. Sophie's horrible secret regarding her
granfather? Eh. The big revelation at the
end? Stale by the time they finally admit that all
your initial suspicions were correct. Does this
book belong on the Top 100 Novels list? Well, to
quote an esteemed professor of mine: "Not no, but HELL
NO."
I don't necessarily think
literary standards have been lowered. This book clearly
slipped past the list's compiler ninja-style, quietly stood in
the ranks of superior works, and was promptly and savagely
attacked as an imposter.
Nice try, Mr.
Brown.

I was
dissapointed when i saw the movie because it crushed
everything i expected, even though Tom Hanks played the
main character. The complexity of the plot and the
temptation each page makes on you is something that the
movie could not achive. Sometimes it is enough a novel to
remain as it is.
I enjoyde reading this book in english, considering that it is
not my mother toungue and sometimes i had the feeling i wasn't
getting everything. It's a must read book.

Its kinda
funny how everyone complains about the da vince code
being on the list yet it has the most reviews of any of
the books Ive looked at. Some by people who havent
even read the book. Well I have read the
book. I liked it. Was it literary
genious? Probably not. But still a fun
read.

To be
honest I didn't read the book. I did however watch the
movie, that followed the same plot. While the movie might
be entertaining thanks to actors like Paul Bettany or Tom
Hanks, the plot is less than modest. It begins with a
mistery, and then continues to thicken with so many
changes of situations that one wouldn't be surprised to
see aliens appear at some point.
I am by no means an
authority in the field, but I think the whole appeal is caused
by the marketable choice of literary themes; this proably being
also the reason why most grocery stores and newspaper stands
supply it.
I'm glad I did not read
the book, as I consider it holds the same literary value as a
sports magazine or cookbook.

This book
is a page turner in the same sense that reality tv draws
huge audiences. Dan Brown has written a Harlequin Romance
novel for people not interested in awful romance novels.
This book's success reads catastrophe on the
Richter-scale of modern literacy. It is really
embarassing that this book is 'rated' higher than a lot
of other stuff on this list (Heart of Darkness
immediately comes to mind...)
Honestly, I can't stress
enough how disheartened I am by this. I thought the internet
was infallible..

The Da
Vinci Code is a fascinating tale of a modern day search
for the Holy Grail, the legendary sacred vessel generally
identified as the chalice of the Holy Eucharist or the
dish of the Pascal Lamb. Panned by some in the
Roman Catholic Church for its negative characterization
of the Opus Dei Society (a secret and controversial sect
of the church) and controversial characterization of the
Holy Grail, this intricate story is nonetheless a
fast-paced and thought-provoking page-turner.

The
kind of book that menopausal women who think The Secret
is philosophy use as a waste of time when they are
sitting on airplanes with their fat sweaty husbands while
their fat sweaty kids are watching some awful in-flight
movie or tapping repetitively on the heads of other
passengers. Admittedly I didn't get very far but it only
took a few chapters for me to get suicidally depressed
over the state of modern literature. It's written so
banally, so perfunctorily that it should be unreadable to
anybody with any concept of what good writing is and why
it should be done. There's no nourishment here, it's the
literary equivalent of Cheetos, except the Cheetos are
shaped like Jesus. Popularity doth not a good book make;
get this garbage off this list.

There is
absolutely no way this book belongs in the Top 100.
Simply put, it just isn't literature. A fun read?
Perhaps. Good writing? Definitely not. An all time
classic? I shudder to think others believe so.

The Da
Vinci Code in Best 100 novels? you must be kidding. This
is the best example of falling literary standards and the
fact that commercial success and huge popularity are no
way related to the merit of the book.
If you are creating a list
of 100 worst novels of all time, Da Vinci Code sure would be in
top 10. Even if we ignore the factual, historical and
logical errors, this book is a shining example of bad writing,
sensationalism, cardboard characters and pseudo intellectual
absurdity.

This book
belongs to top 100 .This book has given a
whole new concept of truth. This book actually
claims that religion was created by power hungry
individuals to separate the common people and rule them.
But we have gone to far to understand this. We are
fighting all over the world for abosultely no cause. God
created us ,I agree , But we recreated him in such a way
in different forms, even God will be ashamed. We
fight in name of God for personal gains or communal
gains.

A book well
worth reading. A fast paced, exhilarating burst of
excitement set in present time, yet reflects on the
bloodline of Jesus Christ and the search for the Holy
Grail. Nearly impossible to put down, once you begin
reading it.

I am an
avid reader, 2-3 books a week and have complied a set of
"keepers" over the years. The Da Vinci Code is a
"keeper" and my set numbers only in the 50 range after
having read thousands upon thousands of books in my
lifetime. Dan Brown is a literate writer who
explores values of good, evil, power and
corruption. l couldn't put it down. l highly
recommend this book to all who have the belief that there
is goodness in the world and the forces of evil that
persist to detstory it through their own power that leads
to corruption can be overcome.

Really, I
am offended that this book made the list. I can see why
some people might think the author tells a compelling
story, but he tells it so poorly I could hardly
bear finishing the book.
