Another book done on the top 50 list, and this one I enjoyed more than any of the
others I have read so far. Hemingway is a beautiful story teller, he paints amazing pictures with his
words and sweeps you off into Europe of bygone days. The story itself may be simple, but it also charms
and delights. I read this book whilst on holiday in Spain and could almost hear the roar of the
bullfight! I had never previously read Hemingway, however I will definately be looking to read more of
his work after I have finished the top 50! I would award this book a 8.5 out of
10.

Wow I would hardly call this a book. There was abslutly no story. As Amy March once
said. This isnt a story its a recipe. Yes, much more like a list of drinks and bars that some very
uninteresting characters drank and went to. Not good. Not interesting. Not for me. 2 out of
5.

A very early work by Hemingway ,and easily overlooked, The Sun Also Rises deserves
more attention than it gets. It is a truly modern tale published more than three-quarters of a century
ago and as relevant today as it ever was.
The story concerns a group of
friends of the "lost generation" who get together and go see a bullfight. There isn't much more to it
than that - the book simply follows them, and follows their various quarrels and conversations. In some
ways, it's just a book about a bunch of friends who spend a lot of time in bars - but in it, Hemingway sneaks
in a delicious taste of the bitterness of reality.
