       What's Going On? is a poignant song from Marvin Gaye about the tragedy of the assassinations of John F. Kennedy, his brother Robert and Martin Luther King.  He describes the emotions we all felt when the news came out that each of the slayings had occurred and the even more incredible fact that three great men were assassinated within a few years of each other, each by a different misguided soul.  The song captures our disbelief of the events as they happened, singly and collectively.  A departure for Marvin Gaye who usually sings to us about love and lust.  He did a great job singing to us about loss as well.
