Dexter

       Hooray for you guys for putting the weird "Dexter" high on the list.  I thought there were few people who would get into this off the wall series about a serial killer/-egitimate forensic expert, particular adept at blood stain iinvestigation.  Yes, Dexter is a serial killer in his off-hours.  He kills only those who deserve execution, however.  Those targeted for Dexter's fine hand at slaying are not only deserving of no longer being on this earth in his judgement, but it is the  universal opinion of everyone in the audience that his victims should be done away with forever.  In other words, Dexter does a service to mankind through his executions.  It's not made absolutely clear, but it would seem that our Dexter is a sociopath, adding even more weird interest to the drama.  Perhaps the most surprising thing about this intelligent, well acted series, is that it ever passed the TV censors and was allowed to air.
