Hill Street Blues

Hill Street Blues was one of the first cop dramas that not only dealt with crime and
crime solving but on the interrelationship of the police officers among themselves and their commanding
officers. It was those relationships that made it stand out from the others. Of course, the characters
were well drawn and well played as well. This is where the oft-spoken line "Be careful out there" came from
which was how the drill sergeant sent the troops off to the streets every day. Daniel Travanti played the
police captain with Veroncia Hamel as the DA and Barbara Bosson as the captain's ex wife. The show was one of
first of the blockbuster crime shows produced by Steven Bochco.
