Law and Order SVU

       Law and Order: Special Victims Unit deals only with crimes of a sexual nature and is not for the faint of heart.  Many episodes evoke rage in certain segments of the audience.  Is that good?  I don't know, but it does remain fascinating to the majority who have not been a victim of this heinous variety  of crime.  The series is not the same without Elliot Stabler played by Christopher Meloni or Olivia Benson, played by Mariska Hargitay .  Dan Florek as the captain and Richard Belzer and Ice-T as the other detectives are superb as well, but the series is held together by Benson and Stabler.  When they are not part of the cast, a rarity, the episode is just not as good as when they are.  I do find, though, that the series is becoming somewhat melodramatic.  It should go back to the beginning stories when it touched more on reality and less on ham.
