NYPD Blue

NYPD Blue is another winner from Steve Bochco who brought us the mesmerizing Hill
Street Blues some 20 years earlier. NYPD began its run in 1993 and ended it in 2005. A hugely
successful run. The story, of course, takes place in New York City in one of the many grungy precincts
in that town and is about more than just crime on the streets, which is typical of the Bochco productions.
What's important to tBochco is not just what happens in the crime environment, but what happens between the
dwellers inside the precinct walls. The cast was pretty much ensemble but leading the cast were Dennis Franz,
David Carauso, Jimmy Smits and Kim Delaney - winners all. The action is made even more entertaining and
intellectually challenging by including in each episode a series of sub plots rather than one overall plot
line. I wish some channel would bring it back. TV Land or A&E, are you listening?
