       One of the best of children's shows of all time, perhaps one of the best shows of all time regardless of age group, Sesame Street managed to blend great characters, a fine means of education, fun and unforgettable skits into one 30-minute show aimed at pre-school kids. My presechooler and I never missed an episode and she learned so much from Sesame Street, once she started school, she skipped the second grade.  I think that event was due not only to her undeniable smarts, (and of course, those of her parents!?*) but the love of learning instilled in her by Sesame Street.  Their lessons were practical, topical and most of all, fun.  Sesame Street was the forerunner to many educational shows for young children.  One that comes instantly to mind is Electrical Company.  We will not speak of Barney in the same echelon, or Ding Dong School, or Howdy Doody.  All pale compared to Sesame Street.
